Improved modeling of GPS Block IIF satellites for the GSPM13 solar radiation pressure model

Workshop 2017 - Carly Sakumura - In this study we update and expand the methodology of the GSPM13 SRP model for the Block IIF satellites. With the launch of the final Block IIF satellite in February 2016, we now have a more robust data record to inform and improve this empirically derived model. Our approach sorts the IIF satellites into subgroups, allowing greater flexibility and adaptability of the model to observed satellite behavior. The new model is rigorously evaluated with multi-day orbit predictions and network solution orbit determination. Analysis of the orbit and clock precision, solar scale parameter estimation, carrier phase ambiguity resolution, and other metrics show clear performance gains with the updated Block IIF SRP model.
