Intercomparison of PWV from MODIS, radiosonde and GPS at Ankara TUSAGA-Active station

Workshop 2017 - Ilke Deniz - In this study, PWV obtained from MODIS of Ankara TUSAGA Active station (PWVM) is compared with the co-located radiosonde station (PWVR) and GPS estimated PWV values (PWVG) from 1.6.2013 to 31.12.2013. Here, PWVG is estimated with Tm and QBEU models applicable for Turkey. Aside from PWVG and PWVR, PWVM is obtained from Terra MOD05_L2 near-IR water vapor data under cloud free and cloudy conditions. Also, the PWVMODIS acquisition times are not congruent with those of GPS and radiosonde, so cubic splines interpolation is applied to PWVG and PWVR values to obtain those at MODIS acquisition time. The results show that PWVM under the cloudy conditions and PWVR (91%) agree better with each other than with PWVG (87%) and those under the cloud free conditions is compatible with PWVR, PWVG (93%).
