Workshop 2017

Impact of severe geomagnetic disturbances on GPS precise positioning

July 4, 2017 • 344 Views

Workshop 2017 - Shagimuratov Irk - The study contains ionospheric fluctuation (based on ROT and ROTI) and its impact on the satellite positioning errors. Observations from the European stations between 50N and 70N during the 2015 March 17th geomagnetic storm has been analysed. In result strong correlation between ROTI and GPS positioning errors has been revealed. Errors during auroral disturbances can reach more than tens of meters, which seems important for navigation in Arctic.
