Workshop 2017 - Fabricio Prol - In this work, we will present experimental results that are under investigation to improve the initial conditions for ionospheric tomography in the Brazilian region. Data derived from ionosondes and Radio Occultation (RO) techniques are ingested into IRI (International Reference Ionosphere) solutions and fitted to the Vertical Total Electron Content (VTEC) obtained from Global Ionospheric Maps (GIMs) provided by the International GNSS Service (IGS). As result, three dimensional (3D) global maps are obtained with a more reliable information for regional applications, which shows as an emerging potential to be used as initial condition for the ionospheric tomography.
