Ensuring a smooth operational transition from GIPSY-OASIS to GipsyX: product verification and validation overview

Workshop 2017 - Aurore Sibois - The current IERS-recommended models for the long-period tidal variations in LOD and diurnal and semidiurnal tidal variations on the Earth’s rotation parameters are over 20 years old and suffer from known deficiencies. These deficient models are also the standard adopted by most, if not all, IGS analysis centers. Modern alternatives are available and their improvement in accuracy over the current IERS standards has been demonstrated. We evaluate the impact of using in our GPS orbit determination process new models of the long-period tides on LOD from Ray and Erofeeva (2014) and for diurnal and semidiurnal tidal variations in polar motion, UT1 and LOD from Desai and Sibois (2016) as well as the conventional libration model.
