Numerical Simulation of the full 1st-orderPost Newtonian Corrections for the GPS and GLONASS satellites

Workshop 2017 - Kyoung-Min Roh - The full first Post-Newtonian (PN) Corrections for the GPS and GLONASS orbits are extensively investigated through numerical simulation. The relativistic effects on the satellite's orbit are often ignored except the Schwarzschild term which is the relativistic correction due to the spherically-symmetric part of the Earth. In this study, the full first PN terms are implemented and tested, i.e., the Lense-Thirring effect, the geodesic precession, and the gravitomagnetic and gravitoelectric components of the tidal potential. Orbit integrations are conducted f through a high precision orbit software under the realistic configurations. From the simulation results, we can define the level of the ignored terms and prepare the future orbit modeling.
